Correction release 2.47.1 made on 2019-11-07

The 2.47.1 release was made to correct three UX issues unfortunately introduced in version 2.47.

Thing List

We are improving the Dashboards for Thing Types and Things and during this work we have introduced the Thing List as a separate widget, which can be added to any Thing Type Dashboard. This enable you to create a Dashboard which includes both the list and for example the map of things in one single view, making filtering and navigation easier. It is also possible to create a Dashboard containing only the Thing List widget, if you want the Thing List as a separate Dashboard.

During the improvement work we removed the separate Thing List tab in release 2.47.0. This caused confusion among our customers and we realize the change happened too fast and that some important information was not sufficiently clearly communicated. We apologize for this and introduced a correction in version 2.47.1, which aimed to ease the transition to the new way of using the Thing List as a widget:

  1. A user having permissions to add widgets will see a new button “Thing List” on the Thing Type Dashboard next to the Dashboard selector. This button provides information about the change and a fast way to add a Thing List Widget in the currently selected Dashboard. The button will only be displayed if the Dashboard lack a Thing List widget.
  2. A user without permissions to add widgets will see a new button “Thing List” on the Thing Type Dashboard next to the Dashboard selector. The button will display the Thing List and a message informing about the change from Thing List to Thing List widget. This Thing List will only be displayed if the Dashboard lack a Thing List widget.

These two features will be available for a limited time, approx. 3 months, and when using them the user is notified of this and are encouraged to create Thing List widgets instead of continue using the Thing List button.

Missing icons in the Thing Dashboard

During improving the Thing Dashboard, the icons showing the battery level and signal strength for the Things were omitted. These have been re-added to the Summary part of the Thing Dashboard.

Internet Explorer 11 support issue

Following the release two issues were found when using App Board in Internet Explorer 11

  1. App Board did not load correctly due to a problem with Internet Explorer 11’s handling of JavaScript. This has now been solved by a redesign of the loading of certain libraries.
  2. The new design for the Thing Type Dashboard and the Thing Dashboard used styling techniques not supported by older web browsers. This has been fixed by redesigning with compatible techniques.

Important to note is that Internet Explorer is becoming an old browser and is not recommended for use with MIC. Our aim is still to support IE 11, but recommend our users to move from IE 11. Chrome is the preferred browser to use.

Features

Advanced Permissions (BETA)

Work is ongoing to complete a first official version of our new Advanced Permissions functionality. We will need a few more releases to complete this work and will keep you updated on the progress.

In this release we have added API support to retrieve the domains by level in the domain tree (including pagination support) in all domains trees a user have access to. This functionality is particularly valuable for users having access to multiple domain trees and want to get a complete view of their domains.
